Sunday dawned a little wet but soon dried up and turned out very nice. Six MTB riders turned up at the café on Sunday morning ready for another instalment of muddy fun. I was very pleased to see two new faces in the form of Ross, who has just made the jump from Jude’s group and Scott, who is making a comeback after some time off. It was also nice to see Nick Joyce also, a well known road racer.
The ride went off at a fair pace and soon had some of our more seasoned riders complaining. We headed off towards Unity Woods via every track we could find with some great descents and single track along the way. With big smiles all round we left the fun of the woody single track and started the long climb to Carn Marth our furthest point for the ride. There was some outstanding climbing by Richard and even better descending from young Joe Williams - that boy flys down hill!
It was then a fast ride back to Bissoe for a feed and coffee.
A special mention should go to young Ross who had to cut his ride a little short after finding the jump up to the big boys a bit harder than he expected (thanks to Nick for accompanying him back to the café). It will get easier for you Ross as your fitness improves and you will always be welcome to ride with us.
Oh and thanks to John for route finding, your trail knowledge is ace! A big well done to all and I’ll see you next time.

PS For anyone looking to have a crack at the Sunday MTB rides, just a reminder that they need to have their bikes fully fettled and servicable before the ride..and whilst there will be plenty of support during a ride if needed, individuals need to be self sufficient in the tools/tubes/repairs/food/waterdepartment. If anyone has any questions, please get in touch via Facebook. |
